Helping self-employed, gig workers own homes

KOTA KINABALU: Syarikat Jaminan Kredit Perumahan Berhad (SJKP) was set up by the Federal Government to enable those qualified in informal sector like gig workers and self-employed aged 18 and above to own their first homes with maximum financing amount up to RM500,000.

Its Skim Jaminan Kredit Perumahan (Housing Credit Guarantee Scheme) will help gig workers and those without a fixed income from the public (employed on a contract basis) or private sectors, own a home without having to pay a downpayment.

Up to RM5 billion financing guarantees were made available for house buyers, expected to benefit 20,000 borrowers.
