One million units of affordable housing will be built between 2026 and 2035 in the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP).
KUALA LUMPUR: One million units of affordable housing will be built between 2026 and 2035 under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), a collaborative effort involving federal and state governments, as well as private developers.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said initiatives like the Housing Credit Guarantee Scheme would be expanded to enable more Malaysians, including those in the low- and middle-income groups, to afford home ownership.
This move aims to address the mismatch between housing demand and supply, and housing prices that are not aligned with people's income levels.
The plan includes various programmes such as the Residensi Madani Programme, civil servants housing programme, new home construction assistance programme, affordable housing programme, and the Madani talent house.
Anwar added that 180,000 housing units have already been completed by the government, with another 235,000 currently under construction.
